The project
Familiar craft in a contemporary home
For a family returning home, Red Grid brings Indian craft into a contemporary interior. Custom Channapatna beads mark the entrance, while timber finishes and fine teak details give the shared spaces warmth. Storage, curved furniture edges and concealed equipment keep the crafted details closely tied to everyday routines.
The home’s character emerges through the relationship between crafted identity and ordinary family use. Its entrance details introduce a material language that continues through the living room, furniture and joinery. Storage and concealed equipment remain part of that story, rather than separate practical additions. The selected photographs move from the larger shared setting to the finer details that make the interior useful and distinctive.

Warmth in the shared room
Timber finishes and fine teak details bring warmth to the family’s shared living space.
The living room carries the project’s blend of Indian craft and contemporary everyday use. Its warm timber language is connected to more specific details, including teak joinery, storage and concealed equipment. These elements allow the shared room to be read through both its material character and its practical role for the family.

Craft at the entrance
Custom Channapatna beads mark the entrance, introducing Indian craft into the contemporary home.
The beads make the entrance a clear introduction to the home’s craft references. Their custom Channapatna character belongs to a broader approach that also uses timber finishes and fine teak details. The threshold therefore establishes an identity that continues into the shared rooms rather than stopping at the front door.

Warm layers around the sofa
Timber finishes and fine teak details bring warmth around the sofa, combining crafted surfaces with the family’s everyday routines.
The sofa setting offers a closer view of how warmth is built through several connected elements. Timber finishes and crafted details belong alongside furniture with curved edges and everyday storage needs. The design brings those practical considerations into the same room as the more expressive craft references.

Living-room joinery
Living-room joinery brings storage and concealed equipment into the interior, keeping practical needs close to its crafted details.
The joinery helps explain how the living room works beyond its main photograph. Storage and concealed equipment are integrated into the interior’s timber language, keeping daily functions close to the crafted details. It is this combination of use and material character that connects the room with the rest of the home.

Display with a practical purpose
Storage, curved furniture edges and concealed equipment keep the crafted details connected to everyday routines.
Display and storage are treated as related parts of the family’s interior. Objects, crafted details and practical equipment share the same setting, rather than becoming separate decorative and functional layers. The result is a useful way to read Inchara’s contemporary interpretation of Indian craft.
